Today we had a fantastic opportunity to visit the United Centre - home of the Chicago Bulls and the Blackhawks - who by the way were playing that very night in the Stanley Cup Final (if they won then they won the "World Championship of Ice Hockey" for the first time in 49 years - more on this later). We were meet by some wonderful hosts who were very forth coming with information about the management side of the Chicago Bulls including sponsorship, public relations and their community affairs. Many of the students were in awe of their surroundings. We were then given a private tour of the stadium and had the privilege of sitting front row next to the ice rink. If the Blackhawks lost they would return to play the final game in Chicago on Friday.
There are 3 videos to give you a small taste of the experience.
That night the Chicago Blackhawks went on to win the Stanley Cup for the first time in 49 years. The atmosphere was electric and the students are now considering themselves life-long Blackhawks fans after serious celebration with the locals.
